The Kerala PSC Degree Level Main Examination 2025 is the crucial next step for candidates who have successfully cleared the Degree-Level Preliminary Exam, which served as a common screening test for various degree-qualified posts. As per the Kerala PSC annual calendar released on January 1, 2025, the Degree Preliminary Exam was conducted between May and July and concluded successfully on May 24, 2025. With the preliminary stage now behind, the focus shifts to the Mains Examination, which will determine the final selection for various Group B and Group C posts such as Secretariat Assistant, Sub Inspector of Police, Excise Inspector, LSGS Officer, and Range Forest Officer. Below is the post-wise schedule and details for the upcoming Mains exams.
The Sub Inspector (SI) post falls under the category of degree-based posts and shares its preliminary stage with the common Degree Level Preliminary Exam. As per the official announcement, the Sub Inspector Mains Exam will be held on August 30, 2025. This exam is specifically designed to assess the candidate’s analytical reasoning, general awareness, legal aptitude, and decision-making skills relevant to law enforcement. With the exam date fixed, candidates should now shift their focus to post-specific topics and question patterns expected in the mains paper.
Like the SI post, the Excise Inspector Mains Exam also draws candidates from the Degree Level Preliminary pool. The Kerala PSC has confirmed that the Excise Inspector Mains will also take place on August 30, 2025, along with the SI exam. This examination will evaluate candidates on their knowledge of Kerala excise laws, general studies, and administrative functioning. Since the roles are closely related in nature, the mains syllabus for Excise Inspector and SI may have overlapping components, though candidates must prepare specifically for the duties and responsibilities unique to the Excise Department.
The Secretariat Assistant Mains Exam is the second stage in the selection process for one of the most competitive posts under Kerala PSC. While the exact date has not yet been officially announced, the PSC calendar indicates that the exam will be conducted between August and October 2025. This exam is designed to test the candidate’s general awareness, English and Malayalam comprehension, administrative aptitude, and knowledge of the Indian Constitution and governance. Candidates aiming for this prestigious post are advised to stay updated with official notifications and continue thorough preparation based on the detailed syllabus.
The Local Self Government Section (LSGS) Officer is another key post recruited through the Degree Level Mains route. According to the PSC annual schedule, the LSGS Officer Mains Exam is expected to be conducted in September 2025, though the specific date is yet to be released. This exam will assess a candidate’s knowledge of Kerala’s decentralised administrative system, local governance laws, and planning processes, alongside general studies. Aspirants should focus on Kerala’s Panchayati Raj system, developmental schemes, and administrative functioning at the grassroots level.
The Range Forest Officer (RFO) post is a degree-qualified Group B position that involves forest management and environmental protection duties. While the exact date for the RFO Mains Exam is still awaited, it is tentatively scheduled for October 2025, as per the PSC’s exam calendar. The RFO mains will test candidates on environmental science, forestry laws, wildlife management, and general knowledge. Candidates from science backgrounds, especially in botany, zoology, or environmental science, are better positioned, but everyone must prepare rigorously based on the prescribed syllabus.
