The previous recruitment for the Special Branch Assistant (SBA) post was conducted under Category No. 315/2019. The selection process began with a common preliminary OMR test, which was held on two dates—October 30, 2021, and November 13, 2021.
Candidates who qualified in the preliminary phase appeared for the main examination, which was conducted on December 21, 2022. Following the completion of the selection process, the final rank list was published on June 3, 2023. This list included candidates from various communities.
As of February 21, 2025, advice memos had been issued to candidates up to rank 185. The rank list published for Category No. 315/2019 will remain valid until February 6, 2026, unless otherwise notified by the Kerala PSC.

Age Limit: 18 to 36 years. Candidates must be born between 02.01.1983 and 01.01.2001. Age relaxations apply for SC/ST, OBC, widows, and differently-abled individuals.
Educational Qualification: A bachelor's degree from a recognized university is mandatory.
Physical Fitness: This is not a uniformed post. It is a clerical-like post. Therefore, the physical requirements that a police officer needs are not required for this.
