This year, the Staff Selection Commission has announced 3131 vacancies for various Group C posts in central government offices. These include positions such as LDC, JSA, DEO, and DEO Grade A. While the detailed department-wise distribution of posts is awaited, this number is slightly lower than the previous year (3712 in 2024), but still provides a significant number of opportunities for aspiring candidates.
To be eligible for the SSC CHSL 2025 exam, a candidate must fulfill three primary criteria:
Nationality
Applicants must be citizens of India or subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, Tibetan refugees (settled before 1962), or persons of Indian origin who migrated from certain countries with the intent to settle permanently in India.
Age Limit
Candidates must be aged between 18 and 27 years as of 01 January 2026. That means only those born between 02 January 1999 and 01 January 2008 can apply. Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided for candidates belonging to OBC, SC/ST, and other reserved categories as per government norms.
Educational Qualification
Applicants must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized board. For DEO posts in certain ministries, candidates must have passed 12th in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
SSC CHSL offers an attractive salary package under the 7th Pay Commission. The pay levels vary based on the post:
LDC/JSA: Pay Level 2 – ₹19,900 to ₹63,200
DEO: Pay Level 4 – ₹25,500 to ₹81,100; Level 5 – ₹29,200 to ₹92,300
PA/SA: Pay Level 4 – ₹19,900 to ₹63,200
In-hand salary may vary depending on the city of posting and includes allowances like HRA and TA.

The SSC CHSL exam is conducted in two tiers:
Tier-1
An online objective test with 100 questions carrying 200 marks. The duration is 60 minutes (80 minutes for candidates with scribes). The sections include:
General Intelligence
General Awareness
Quantitative Aptitude
English Language
There is a negative marking of 0.5 marks for each wrong answer.
Tier-2
This stage includes an objective paper, a skill test, and a typing test depending on the post applied for. The Tier-2 paper also includes a descriptive test worth 100 marks conducted in offline mode (pen and paper).
The SSC CHSL 2025 Admit Card will be issued to all candidates who complete their application within the specified deadline. The admit card for Tier-1 will be released first, followed by the Tier-2 admit card, which will only be available to those who qualify in the first stage. Candidates must download their e-admit card or hall ticket from the official SSC website once it is released.
