Cellulose is a structural polysaccharide found in the cell walls of plants and many forms of algae. It's composed of long chains of glucose units linked together by beta-1,4 glycosidic bonds. Due to its widespread presence in plant tissues, cellulose is considered the most abundant organic compound on Earth. Cotton is almost pure cellulose, further highlighting its abundance.
