10 years ago, the ratio of the ages of A and B was 5 ∶ 9. 15 years from now, the ratio of their ages will be 15 ∶ 17. What will be A's age 15 years from now?

A26 years

B38 years

C30 years

D35 years

Answer:

C. 30 years

Read Explanation:

Solution: Calculation: Let the Ages of A and B be x and y respectively. Now, According to the question, 10 years ago: (x−10)(y−10)=59 ⇒ 9(x - 10) = 5(y - 10) ⇒ 9x - 5y = 40 --------------(1) And, 15 years from now: (x+15)(y+15)=1517 ⇒ 17(x + 15) = 15(y + 15) ⇒ 17x - 15y = - 30 --------(2) On solving equations (1) and (2), we get, x = 15 and y = 19 Hence, A's age after 15 years from now is 30 years.
