A 3 m wide path runs outside and around a rectangular park of length 125 m and breadth 65 m. If cost of flooring is 10 rs/m2, find the total cost of flooring the path.

A1275 Rs

B11760 Rs

C12750 Rs

D1176 Rs

Answer:

B. 11760 Rs

Read Explanation:

Solution:

Given:

Lenght = 125 m, breadth = 65 m

Cost of flooring = 10 rs/m2

Formula used:

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Calculation:

image.png

Area of park = Length × Breadth

Area of park = 125 m × 65 m

⇒ Area of park = 8125 m2

Length of rectangle including path = 125 + 3 + 3 = 131 m

Breadth of rectangle including path = 65 + 3 + 3 = 71 m

Area of the park including the path

= 131 m × 71 m = 9301 m2

Area of the path = Area of the park including path - Area of the park

⇒ A = 9301 m2 - 8125 m2

⇒ A = 1176 m2

Hence, total cost of flooring @ 10 Rs/m2

⇒ 1176 × 10 = 11760 Rs.

∴ Total cost of flooring the path is 11760 Rs.
