A street of width 10 metres surrounds from outside a rectangular garden whose measurement is 200 m × 180 m. The area of the path (in square metres) is

A8000

B7000

C7500

D8200

Answer:

A. 8000

Read Explanation:

Width of the street = 10 meter

Dimensions of rectangular garden = 200 m × 180 m

FORMULA USED:

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

CALCULATION:

Length of smaller rectangle (Only park) = 200 m

Breadth of smaller rectangle (Only park) = 180 m

And

Length of larger rectangle (Including street) = 200 + 10 + 10 = 220 m

Breadth of larger rectangle (Including street) = 180 + 10 + 10 = 200 m

Hence,

Area of street = (220 × 200) – (200 × 180) = 44000 – 36000 = 8000 m2
