Before registering amendments to the bye-laws of a cooperative society, the registrar should consult the State Co-operative Union.
Here are some other things to know about amending bye-laws:
A proposal to amend bye-laws must be approved by a two-thirds majority of the society's members at a General Body Meeting.
The society must submit the proposal to the registrar within two months of the General Body Meeting.
The registrar will register the amendment if it is not contrary to the provisions of the Act or the rules.
The registrar will send a copy of the registered amendment to the society, along with a certificate signed by the registrar.
The amendment will be binding on the society and its members once it is registered.
The registrar may amend a clause of a cooperative society's bye-laws with the approval of the State Government.
