Vaikunta swamikal

• He was one of the earlier social reformers in Kerala, born at Shastamkoyil in Kanyakumari.

• Challenged the social abuse of prohibiting Avarnas from drawing water from the wells used by the Savarnas, by digging wells which were free for everyone irrespective of caste.

• Began the practice of inter-dining (Samapanthibhojanam).

• Raised voice against the evil custom of preventing lower caste women from wearing upper cloth & protested against the prohibition on temple entry.
