The vegetated area around it is known as A permanent source of water in a desert and Oasis
An exotic river has its source in a rainy area beyond the margins of the desert
Examples of exotic rivers are
- The Nile in Egypt, The Tigris and the Euphrates in Iraq, The Indus in Pakistan and The Colorado in the USA
Channels that are dry except during the rainy season are called wadis in Arabic-speaking countries.
Although the surface of the channel is dry, water is present underground and can be obtained using wells; in some regions, natural springs also supply water.
As in the case of exotic rivers, the source of water in natural springs too lies outside the desert.
