• The office of the President of India can fall vacant due to several reasons as per the Constitution of India.

• Expiry of Term: The President holds office for a term of five years from the date he assumes office. Upon the expiry of his term, the office becomes vacant, and a new President is elected.

• Resignation: The President can resign from his office at any time by writing a letter addressed to the Vice-President of India. The Vice-President then informs the Speaker of the Lok Sabha about the resignation.

• Impeachment: The President can be removed from office through a process of impeachment for violation of the Constitution. This process is initiated by either House of Parliament.

• Article 61 of the Constitution deals with the procedure for the impeachment of the President.
