LokOS is a comprehensive digital platform and operating system specifically developed for rural community-based organizations (CBOs) in India, with a core focus on digitizing the entire network of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). It provides both web and mobile interfaces, each tailored for distinct user roles, ranging from administrators managing CBOs and their financial activities to ground-level functionaries recording daily operations. The platform's main objective is to transition traditional record-keeping into a digital format, thereby increasing transparency, alleviating the burden on record keepers, enabling real-time tracking of transactions, and ultimately enhancing the overall efficiency of CBOs. LokOS functions under the umbrella of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), a key initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). The Digital India Corporation is entrusted with the responsibility of developing, operating, and managing the LokOS platform, receiving support from both the NRLM and MoRD.
