UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is a flagship initiative of the Digital India program, developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National e-Governance Division (NeGD). Its core purpose is to provide a unified platform where citizens can access a wide array of government services from central, state, and local bodies through a single mobile application. This consolidation reduces the need to download multiple apps, thereby simplifying access and promoting 'Mobile Governance'. The platform emphasizes 'Anytime, Anywhere Access', allowing users to avail e-governance services conveniently from any location using their mobile devices. Recognizing the diverse technological landscape, UMANG offers multiple accessibility channels, including mobile apps (Android & iOS), web browsers, SMS, and Interactive Voice Response (IVR), making it accessible on various devices like smartphones, feature phones, tablets, and desktops. It acts as a centralized portal, ensuring that content and services managed by respective ministries and departments are authentic and accurate, ultimately empowering citizens by bringing essential services and governance participation to their fingertips.
