Tantia Tope, also known as Tatya Tope, led the revolt of 1857 in Kanpur, playing a crucial role in the rebellion against British rule
Tantia Tope was betrayed by Mansingh, Raja of Narwar.
The Scindia of the Gwalior was not in favor of the revolt.
Mansingh was loyal to the Scindia at that time, and hence he betrayed Tantia Tope.
Tantia Tope's original name was Ramchandra Panduranga.
He was the leader of the revolt of 1857 from Kanpur along with Nana Sahib/Dhondu
Pant and Azimullah Khan.
He was hanged to death on April 18, 1859.
