The breadth of a rectangular hall is three-fourth of its length. If the area of the floor is 768 sq. m., then the difference between the length and breadth of the hall is:

A8 m

B12 m

C24 m

D32 m

Answer:

A. 8 m

Read Explanation:

Let the length of rectangular hall= x metre

Breadth =(34×x)metre=(\frac{3}{4}\times{x}) metre

Area of rectangular = Length × Breadth

=x×34×x=x\times{\frac{3}{4}\times{x}}

=34x2m2=\frac{3}{4}x^2 m^2

According to question, 34x2=768\frac{3}{4}x^2=768

x2=768×43x^2=\frac{768\times{4}}{3}

x=256×4x=\sqrt{256\times{4}}

x=16×2=32mx=16\times{2}=32m

Length = 32 m and

Breadth = 24m

Required difference = 32 – 24 = 8 m
