Two stations are 120 km apart on a straight line. A train starts from station A at 8 a.m. and moves towards station B at 20 km/h, and another train starts from station B at 9 a.m. and travels towards station A at a speed of 30 km/h. At what time will they meet?

A10:30 a.m.

B10:00 a.m.

C11:00 a.m.

D11:30 a.m.

Answer:

C. 11:00 a.m.

Read Explanation:

Relative speed opposite direction = Sum of speeds Relative speed = 20 + 30 = 50 km/h Distance covered by 1st Train in 1 hour = 20 km Distance left = 120 - 20 = 100 km Total time = 100/50 = 2 hours They will meet at 8 am + 1 + 2 = 11 am
