The Wharton Basin is a significant marine area in the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean, situated east of the Ninety East Ridge and west of Western Australia. While it is a deep region, the deepest point in the Indian Ocean is actually the Sunda Trench (also known as the Java Trench).
