This component focuses on building the skills, knowledge, and resources within a community so that they can take immediate and effective action when a disaster strikes, even before external aid arrives. It encompasses:
Training and Education: Providing residents with practical skills like first aid ๐ฉน, search and rescue basics โ๏ธ, evacuation procedures ๐โโ๏ธ, and early warning system comprehension ๐ข.
Resource Mobilization: Identifying and organizing local resources, including volunteers, equipment, and traditional knowledge, that can be utilized during an emergency.
Leadership Development: Nurturing local leaders who can coordinate efforts and guide their community members during crises.
Drills and Exercises: Regularly practicing emergency response scenarios to ensure community members are prepared and can effectively apply their learned skills.
