Sree Moolam Praja Sabha

• Sree Moolam Praja Sabha was established in Travancore on October 1, 1904, 
• It was an important step towards increasing the participation of the people in the governance of the princely state.
• This assembly marked a significant development in the constitutional history of Travancore, as it provided a platform for representatives to discuss and address various issues related to governance and public welfare.
• In 1905, It was decided that more than two thirds of the representatives must be
  elected from among the people.
• On May 1, 1905 a regulation was passed, granting the people the right to elect their representatives.
• But the eligiblity to vote was limited to persons who paid on their account an annual land
  revenue of not less than Rs. 50 or whose net income was not less than Rs.
  2000.
• Graduates of recognised university with not less than ten years of
  standing and having their residence in the taluk were also eligible to vote in the assembly.
