The Japan Co-operative Alliance (JCA) is the apex organization for cooperatives in Japan, representing the movement in the country. The JCA's main goals are to:
Promote cooperatives
Support collaborations between cooperatives
Collaborate with other organizations to protect jobs, livelihoods, and communities
Contribute to better lives and job creation in local communities
The JCA was formed on April 1, 2018, when the Japan Cooperative General Research Institute (JC-Soken) was reorganized. The JCA's tasks include:
Planning and promoting inter-cooperative collaboration
Supporting collaborations within communities and prefectures
Collaborating with other organizations to protect jobs, livelihoods, and communities
Education, study, and research
Holding seminars and study meetings
Recommending public relations and policy
