After the end of World War I and the Russian Civil War, several new independent states emerged from the former Russian Empire's territories.
Finland:
- The Grand Duchy of Finland, previously a part of the Russian Empire, declared its independence on December 6, 1917, following the Russian Revolution.
- The new nation of Finland emerged as an independent state.
Estonia:
- Estonia, located in the Baltic region, declared its independence from Russia on February 24, 1918, during the tumultuous period of the Russian Civil War and the subsequent collapse of the Russian Empire.
Latvia:
- Latvia also declared its independence from Russia on November 18, 1918.
- It emerged as a sovereign state following the collapse of the Russian Empire and the subsequent power vacuum created by the Russian Civil War.
