Saga Dawa
Observed by the Buddhist communities of Sikkim, Saga Dawa is a sacred festival celebrated on the full moon day that falls in the middle of the Tibetan lunar month known as Saga Dawa.
This important occasion honors three major events in the life of Lord Buddha—his birth, enlightenment, and attainment of parinirvana (death).
Bihu
Bohag Bihu is one of Assam’s most prominent festivals, marking the Assamese New Year.
While the Assamese celebrate Bihu three times a year, Bohag or Rongali Bihu is the most widely anticipated.
The three types of Bihu include:
Bohag or Rongali Bihu (Spring/New Year)
Kati or Kongali Bihu (Autumn)
Magh or Bhogali Bihu (Winter/Harvest)
