A piezometer is a device used to measure liquid pressure by measuring the height of a column of liquid. It can only measure gauge pressures for incompressible, static fluids and cannot be used for large pressures in lighter liquids. It is limited in use compared to manometers, which can measure pressure difference and both positive and negative gauge pressures for both compressible and incompressible fluids. Piezometers can be used to measure pressure in pipe channels, but only for medium or low pressure and cannot measure pressure difference between two points.
