The VII Schedule of the Indian Constitution contains the Division of Powers between the Parliament and the State Legislatures. It divides the subjects on which both can legislate into three distinct lists:
Union List: This list contains subjects on which only the Parliament can legislate.
State List: This list contains subjects on which only the State Legislatures can legislate.
Concurrent List: This list contains subjects on which both the Parliament and the State Legislatures can legislate. In case of a conflict, the law made by the Parliament prevails.
This division helps in defining the scope and jurisdiction of legislative powers between the Centre and the States in India.
