Motivation is a specific mental state of an organism.
This mental state is entirely internal.
This state arises from an intense stimulation to achieve a need or desire.
It moves toward a goal.
The insatiable desire to reach the goal creates tension in the organism, which can be called an individual. This leads to intense engagement in activities to achieve the goal.
Motivation is the path to the goal, not the goal itself.
Motivation creates attention in the individual.
Motivation persists until the goal is achieved, regardless of any obstacles.
As the goal achievement approaches, the intensity of motivation decreases. With the goal achieved, the activity ceases, and motivation disappears. The individual then experiences complete satisfaction.
The activity that has ceased restarts with the emergence of a new motivational state.
