The Interim Government of India was formed on 2 nd September, 1946 from the newly elected Constituent Assembly as per the Cabinet Mission Plan which was declared on 24 th August, 1946.
After inclusion of League in the Interim Government, Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel, Rajendra Prasad, Ibrahim Ismail Chundrigar, C. Rajagopalachari, Baldev Singh, Liaqat Ali Khan, Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Jagjivan Ram, Abdur Rab Nishtar, Asaf Ali and C.H. Bhabha were included. Some members like Sarat Chandra Bose, Sir Shafat Ahmad Khan and Syed Ali Zaheer appointed earlier resigned to make room for the Muslim League nominees who joined constituent Assembly on 26 October, 1946. B.R. Ambedkar was not included in Interim Cabinet.
