• She began publishing her poetry (in Ar- abic translation) at fifteen in Sudanese newspapers.

• After going to Nottingham University in Britain to receive her Ph.D., Alexander returned to India to teach at Delhi Uni- versity, Central Institute of Hyderabad, and Hyderabad University.
