"Different from" is the standard and correct preposition to use when comparing two things ( രണ്ട് കാര്യങ്ങൾ താരതമ്യം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ). It indicates that there is a distinction between the recipe in question and the one usually used.
This recipe is different from the one I usually use. (ഈ പാചകക്കുറിപ്പ് ഞാൻ സാധാരണയായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിൽ നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമാണ്).
