As per Article 80 of the Indian Constitution, the maximum strength of the Rajya Sabha is 250 members.
12 members are nominated by the President of India from individuals having special knowledge or practical experience in fields like literature, science, art, and social service.
Not more than 238 members represent the States and Union Territories.
