The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) Report 2023-24:
(i) The unemployment rate for individuals aged 15 years and above was 3.2% in 2023-24. According to the PLFS Annual Report (July 2023 - June 2024), the unemployment rate (UR) for persons aged 15 years and above (in usual status) was indeed 3.2%. This rate remained unchanged from the previous year (2022-23), marking the first time since the PLFS began that there wasn't a year-on-year decline. Therefore, Statement (i) is correct.
(ii) The urban unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above was 6.4% in Q2 FY 25. Reports on quarterly PLFS data (which is released for urban areas only) indicate that the urban unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above was 6.4% in Q2 FY25 (July-September 2024). Therefore, Statement (ii) is correct.
(iii) The worker-to-population ratio (WPR) has decreased between 2017-18 and 2023-24. The PLFS Annual Report for 2023-24 explicitly states an increasing trend in the Worker Population Ratio (WPR) for persons aged 15 years and above. The WPR increased from 46.8% in 2017-18 to 58.2% in 2023-24. Therefore, Statement (iii) is incorrect.
