The base of the triangular field is three times its altitude. If the cost of cultivating the field at Rs.24.4/hect is Rs.448.35, find its height? (in meters)

A100

B350

C700

D250

Answer:

B. 350

Read Explanation:

Total Cost of Cultivation = Area of triangle ×\times Rate

Let height/altitude = x

Base of triangle = 3 altitude=3x

Area of =12[bh]\triangle=\frac{1}{2}[bh]

=12×3x×x=\frac{1}{2}\times{3x}\times{x}

total cost =448.35=12×3x2×24.4= 448.35=\frac{1}{2}\times{3x^2}\times{24.4}

=>12.2\times{3x^2}=448.35

x2=12.25x^2=12.25

x=12.25=1225100x=\sqrt{12.25}=\sqrt{\frac{1225}{100}}

x=3510=3.5x=\frac{35}{10}=3.5

Height=350mHeight = 350 m
