The first national park in Kerala is Eravikulam National Park, located in the Idukki and Ernakulam districts.
It was established as a national park in 1978, following its designation as a wildlife sanctuary in 1975.
The park is renowned for being the largest surviving population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and is home to South India's highest peak, Anamudi Peak.
