English poet
He was radical in thought
Shelly was born in Sussex, England and was the son of rich landowner.
He was educated at Eton and University college Oxford.
At school he was bullied as 'Mad Shelley' and the 'Eton Atheist' (because of his Inde- pendent spirit)
At university college, oxford, he continued to read radical authors and adopted eccen- tric dress and behaviours
In March 1811, he was expelled for circulating a pamphlet, 'The Necessity of Atheism', written with his friend T.J. Hogg. His father disowned him for the same reason.
