Chloe Anthony Wofford Morrison (born Chloe Ardelia Wofford) known as Toni Morrison, was born on February 18, 1931, in Lorain, Ohio, U.S., and died on August 5, 2019, in Bronx, New York, was an American writer noted for her examination of Black experience (particularly Black female experience) within the Black community and for her poetic, luminous prose.
