After the decline of the Mauryan Empire in the 2nd century BCE, various dynasties rose to power across different regions that were once under Mauryan control.
In North and Central India, rulers such as the Shungas, Kanvas, Kushanas, and Guptas emerged, while in South and Western India, the Satavahanas, Abhiras, Ikshvakus, and Vakatakas established their rule.
During this period, three distinct schools of sculpture developed in different regions of India, each reflecting unique artistic styles and influences.
They are Gandhara School, Mathura School and Amaravati School
