Constitutional Basis

  • Decides on disqualification of MPs/MLAs (except under Anti-Defection Law).
    Advises President/Governor on issues relating to disqualification.

Quasi-Judicial Role:

  • Settles disputes regarding recognition of political parties & symbol allocation
