Vardhamana Mahavira, a contemporary of Sri Buddha, propagated Jainism. According to Jains, there are 24 thirthankaras. Mahavira was the 24th thirthankara.
Jainism also emphasised on ahimsa. As in Buddhism, Jainism was also against vedic practices and caste system.
