During the Guruvayur Satyagraha in 1931 (a landmark temple entry movement in Kerala demanding entry for all Hindus into the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple):
Mannath Padmanabhan served as the President of the Satyagraha Committee.
K. Kelappan served as the Captain (or leader) of the satyagrahis (and famously undertook a historic fast unto death during the movement), while A.K. Gopalan served as the volunteer captain/leader who was brutally assaulted during the agitation.
