The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a major infrastructure project jointly implemented by China and Pakistan.
It aims to connect China's Xinjiang province with Pakistan's Gwadar Port through various modes of transport such as road, rail, and pipeline.
The main objectives are to strengthen ties between China and Pakistan, facilitate trade, improve Pakistan's economy through infrastructure development, and provide China with a cheaper and safer route for energy imports.
The project was officially launched in 2015.
The nearly 3,000-kilometer-long corridor passes through Pakistan.
