Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives

• Bloom and his associates developed a taxonomic model of instructional objectives. 

• They formulated a division corresponding to the domains of development viz; Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor. 

• Within each domain they arranged the sequence of development of mental abilities in a logical and psychological order.

Affective Domain: 

• This is another important area of human behaviour which includes feelings, interests, appreciation, attitudes and values. 

• Changes in the affective domain can be brought about only by making the learner pass through five hierarchical stages of experience. Providing these is the basis of realisation of the objectives  to this domain. 

• These hierarchical experiences indicate five behavioural abilities lead to the formation of interests, attitudes, etc. 

i. Receiving: 

This indicates the readiness of an individual to properly receive inform Awareness of the sources of information and willingness to receive the information the sub levels of this category.

ii. Responding: 

Effective reception leads to Responding. This ability is represer interest and willingness to respond.

iii. Valuing: 

• Individuals set guidelines for controlling their own behaviour. 

• Acceptance of a value, preference for a value and finally the commitment to a value are th involved.

iv. Organisation: 

• An individual's attitude is not ordinarily motivated by an value. A system of values form it. 

• There should be an organisation of value system.

V. Characterisation:

• The values are imbibed and forms part  of the individual.
