Surya Sen, popularly known as 'Master Da' due to his profession as a schoolteacher, was a prominent Bengali revolutionary in the Indian independence movement.
He was born on March 22, 1894, in Chittagong (now in Bangladesh) and was deeply inspired by nationalist ideals during his college days, eventually joining secret revolutionary societies like the Anushilan Samiti and Jugantar.
In 1918, he was selected as the president of the Chittagong branch of the Indian National Congress.
